NDPC meets with EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt

NDPC President Ron Ness joined Gov. Doug Burgum, Sen. John Hoeven and Congressman Kevin Cramer in Grand Forks on August 9 to meet  with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt. The meeting highlighted North Dakota leading the way in energy independence and environmental stewardship through innovation.

The group discussed efforts to restore a federalism approach to regulation in rolling back overreaching rules from the past Administration and enacting states-first, pro-jobs policies. They also heard from experts in the energy field who are actively testing and developing new technologies to produce American energy more efficiently. Pruitt’s visit included a tour of the University of North Dakota’s Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC).

Ness also had the opportunity to meet his team. Pruitt indicated he would soon be making his first appointment of a Regional Director with other names, including that of Region 8, to follow.

COMMUNITY CORNER:  Liberty builds stakeholder relationships

Building community relationships continues to be an important part of the industry’s relations. Last month, Liberty Resources and Liberty Midstream Solutions hosted more than 200 land and mineral owners for a Community Appreciation BBQ. The event, which was focused on strengthening ties with the local community, offered tours of well locations, salt water disposal wells and the company’s County Line Gas Plant. Attendees learned about the companies’ efforts to reduce road congestions through the use of gas and water gathering lines; improved wellhead footprint through implementation of jet pumps; and, the companies’ partnership with a local utility company to improve reliability.

NDPC and ONEOK host McKenzie County Employee Appreciation Luncheon

NDPC and ONEOK partnered to host about 150 McKenzie County employees for lunch as a thank you for their service to and support of North Dakota’s oil industry. The luncheon also provided an opportunity for further engagement and sharing of information with employees, including demonstrations from the Alexander Public School STEM program, which was funded by the ONEOK Community Investment Foundation. In addition, county commissioners participated in a tour of a ONEOK gas plant.

Despite many county employees and civic leaders living in the midst of oil and gas activity for the past decade, very few have had the opportunity to tour sites or attend information sessions to learn more about oil and gas operations. The Appreciation Luncheon was an excellent avenue to provide those opportunities and are events that the NDPC and its members intends to host in other counties in the future.

North Dakota Oil PAC

As we move into the 2017-2018 legislative interim, it is important we begin looking forward to the 2018 elections. The North Dakota Oil PAC was formed in 1981, and has since helped elect many candidates who support the oil and gas industry and work to create and maintain a positive business climate in North Dakota.

Please consider supporting the North Dakota Oil PAC through a personal contribution. It is imperative that we continue to support candidates who support our industry. The last few years brought a fast pace and record-breaking numbers, but times have changed. Spills, flaring and negative media headlines continue to drive the conversation and spur a want for reactionary regulation in challenging economic conditions. We were successful over the course of the 2017 Legislative Session, and an administration change in Washington, D.C. has brought about renewed optimism for our industry. Continuing to providing campaign support to strong candidates will help ensure that business-friendly candidates are elected to office, and make business-friendly, fact-based decisions.

Please consider contributing to the ND Oil PAC at one of the following levels:

  • $350 and above: Bakken Gold Oil PAC Director – Voting member and listed as a sponsor for all remaining 2017 ND Oil PAC Events.
  • $200 – $349: Oil PAC Director – A voting member of the ND Oil PAC.
  • $50 – $199: Contributor – We appreciate your support. There are no reporting requirements for contributions less than $200.

Contributions can be made online at https://www.ndoil.org/north-dakota-oil-pac-membership/ or by mailing a check to ND Oil PAC, PO Box 1395, Bismarck ND 58502. As a reminder, CORPORATE CONTRIBUTIONS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.

We urge you to support your industry and the North Dakota Oil PAC with a contribution. Please share this information with your friends and colleagues, and encourage them to support the ND Oil PAC as well. We can only accept contributions from U.S. citizens. Thank you.
